Online learning is defined as learning experience in synchronous or asynchronous environments using different devices (e.g. mobile phones, laptops) with Internet access. Using these environments, students can learn and interact with teachers and other students from anywhere.
Coronavirus outbreak has significantly accelerated development of online education in higher education. Amidst the Corona virus outbreak that has led to a lockdown, our college also.
“TAWI TECHNICAL CAMPUS” have shifted to Online Education to continue teaching during the quarantine.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of TAWI TECHNICAL CAMPUS has
done online teaching sessions.
As per time table we are conducting Online Classes for all the students since 23rd March 2020.
Online Teaching Sessions:
1) A line-up of main online education platforms were introduced to all faculty & students by email, Whatsapp discussion groups, and college website.
2) Faculty were encouraged to share their notes, study material with platforms including You tube lectures, Zoom, google class, Google meet etc.
3) Learning online is a big challenge for our students. The department informed students about changes, provided teachers for each online class, and ensured that every student is able to participate in digital learning. Special attention was given to students coming from rural regions and difficult family backgrounds.
- Apart from this, we record the sessions which give the students opportunity to review the
sessions later.
Medium to assess students : - To assess students understanding and progress, the teacher’s conducts Oral Q&A session during the online classes, which are helpful to get some clarity on their prior knowledge.
- Special focus was given to students for practicals. Practicals was taught by you tube videos and their material was provided by google classes.
- After every topic, an Online Test is conducted.
- Online teaching has allowed students to be much more responsible and take ownership of their learning and once both teachers and students become comfortable with the online sessions, any challenges during a crisis can be addressed in the future.
- Moreover teachers are giving their best efforts to fight against this situation and providing quality education.
